July 2nd, 2009- The City of Rosarito Beach, Baja México and FDt Marketing are proud to announce the 4th Annual Rosarito-Puerto Nuevo Half Marathon which will be held on November 7th, 2009 in Rosarito. The event, which will begin at 7:30 am, will start at the Rosarito Beach North entrance, continue South on Highway 1 to the finish line at the entrance of Puerto Nuevo.
“We are very happy that FDt Marketing has signed on to assist in the development and coordination of the half marathon. We are very excited to have all the competitors here in our beautiful city and look forward to the event in November. Rosarito has always been recognized as a very attractive spot for active outdoor enthusiasts and this event will bring many positive things to our city. The half marathon has plenty of potential to be a successful event, and I am more than happy to make sure we host this event every year from now on”, said Hugo Torres, Mayor of Rosarito Beach.
FDt Marketing and Rosarito have set up hotel and travel packages as well as shuttle service to and from the U.S. border. Race packet pick up will be held Friday November 6 at the Rosarito Beach Hotel. The event will also include a festival at the finish line.
Anyone interested in signing up for the event can register on Active.com (keyword: Rosarito Beach). Registration is $30 until August 30 and $40 after August 30. The cost of the Kids Fun Run is $10. The deadline to register is October 19, 2009.
As for Rosarito security issues, Mayor Torres commented by saying “We welcome all tourists as usual, Rosarito is safer than ever as we have launched the Tourist Police Force, a group of attentive bilingual officers, trained especially to deal with tourists issues; we also have the Tourist Attention Department, available 24/7 and a fully bilingual Ombudsman for mayor incidents. We have no problems here and no tourist has been affected by organized crime in the last 20 years.”

Rosarito esta mi Corazon!
I am a 70 yr. old female and I have Lived full time in Rosarito for almost 6 years by myself with 2 dogs and a cat and feel safer here than the US. Where else can you live when someone comes to change your tire who is a stranger and suddenly all your neighbors come to visit. Do I feel protected you better believe it. The cost of living is much better, perfect weather 98% of the time, clean white beaches, I can walk to town, Know my bank manager, pharmacist, etc. Fresh food we can trust. I can go on and on. I love Rosarito the rich social life I have. Do I go out at night of course, do I use common sense of course just like anywhere else in the world.

Hooked on Baja
I have been in love with the Baja peninsula, especially the area between Playas Tijuana and Ensenada, since my first visit to the region in the 1950’s. The unparalleled primitive beauty of Baja’s volcanic coastline and the adjacent seas beyond offer visitors a rare opportunity to temporarily escape from the frustration of modern existence, and peacefully reflect upon the things in life that are truly important.
Many have ultimately chosen to live the rest of their lives here. The strong, family oriented Mexican culture is warm, friendly and welcoming. It also stands in stark contrast to the mindlessly materialistic and socially depreciating culture north of the border.
It pains most of our longtime American residents in Baja deeply when U.S. media interests unscrupulously magnify the inter-drug cartel conflicts that are currently being dealt with summarily by Mexican military and police authorities. Their sensationalistic content falsely insinuates that it is not safe for travelers to visit Baja Norte; a magical place where they could otherwise collect a multitude of blissful memories to be carried with them for years to come.

Rosarito To Offer Tourist Information Booths Daily From 10 To 5 During July 4th Weekend
ROSARITO BEACH, BAJA CALIFORNIA, MEXICO---The city will have two information booths to assist tourists from 10 to 5 this Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
The booths will be in front of Oceana Plaza on Boulevard Benito Juarez in the city’s main downtown tourist district and at the world famous Puerto Nuevo Lobster Village.
Brochures and other materials will be available as well as staff who can answer visitors’ questions.
The booths are among many steps that the popular tourist destination 30 miles south of San Diego has taken this year to make its visitors feel even more welcome and secure.
Others include establishing a Tourist Police Force, plus a special city department and ombudsman to assist visitors.
“Rosarito has been an extremely popular tourist destination for the United States for decades, with more than a million visitors annually in recent years,” said Rosarito Mayor Hugo Torres.
“Unfortunately some unbalanced media coverage about the Mexican government’s crackdown on drug cartels has created the misleading impression that Baja is not safe for tourists.
“But in truth our visitors have never been more welcome or safer,” Torres said. “Those who have visited us this year can attest to that, as can the 14,000 expatriates who have chosen to call Rosarito home.”
The coastal city is known for its beach resorts, spas, extensive shopping, outdoor activities, culture, history, craftsmen, artists, fine dining and Baja Studios, where Titanic and Master & Commander were filmed.

Rosarito Beach Pro-Am Scheduled for August 7-9
The City of Rosarito Beach, Baja California and FDt Marketing are proud to announce the Rosarito Beach Pro-Am which will be held on August 7th-9th, 2009 in Rosarito, at the Rosarito Pier. The event, which has been in development for nearly 7 months, will feature some of North America’s best shortboarders mixed with excellent up and coming amateur surfers from the U.S. and Mexico.
“Finally a surf event is back in Northern Baja. It’s awesome that the city of Rosarito is stepping in to provide both local and international surfers an opportunity to showcase their talent and win some coin”, said Zach Plopper, Professional Surfer.
FDt Marketing, the management company behind the Rosarito Beach Pro-Am, feels they are bringing this contest to Rosarito at the perfect time of year, seeing huge potential for this year and beyond.
“We feel bringing this surf contest to Rosarito is a perfect opportunity to not only help with the tourism in Rosarito, but to also give another opportunity to those surfers, professional and amateur, to compete in a location where they usually would not. Being in Mexico will not only draw a lot of great local pro U.S. surfers, but also give opportunity to those amateurs in the Mexican Surf Federation as well as those up and coming U.S. amateurs.
