“This is going to be a festive event that has an authentic flavor and offers people the chance to enjoy all the things they love about Mexico,”
said AMPI President Ross Buck.

“We’re hoping to have a large turnout from the U.S. as well as Mexico, and plan to make this an annual event. As well as having fun, people can learn a bit about Mexican history and culture in a festive setting.”

The celebration on the will be on the Rosarito Beach Hotel grounds adjacent to the beach and pier from noon to 10 p.m. on Saturday and noon to 6 on Sunday.

It will feature music, dancing, a Saturday night concert, food, carriage rides and fireworks. Some city hotels are offering special discounts for those attending.
A two-day restaurant competition will focus on tastes and flavors of early Puebla, where the historic battle occurred. A contest will be held for best authentic Mexican costume.

Rosarito Beach is a popular tourist destination and beach resort a scenic 18 miles south of the border, which attracts more than a million visitors a year.
It is known for its authentic Mexican flavor, outdoor activities, shopping, dining, authentic arts and crafts, spas, the world famous Puerto Nuevo lobster village and Baja Studios, where Titanic, Master & Commander and other blockbuster movies were filmed.
